Very well done indeed. I used this resource among others to help decide on purchasing the MM300 and the MM600SD together from Katsu-san. Your work is much appreciated and I hope you keep it updated for the less resourceful among us.

Thanks for the great resource page. I'm planning to purchase the MM soon, and am currently shopping around for the best deal.
I particularly enjoyed reading some of the comparisons between the Seiko and Rolex although for me, there's no comparison whatever; I can't believe anyone would consider for a moment choosing a Rolex over a Marinemaster, the value of the former being almost entirely based on intangible qualities like 'reputation,' 'brand recognition,' 'image,' etc. Oddly enough, when I choose to spend a substantial sum of money on a high-end timepeice, I'm interested primarily in the watch itself, and NOT the impressions I might be able to create in the tiny minds of the logo-obsessed boobs at the local watering hole.
On the few occasions that I've actually handled a Rolex watch, I've been shocked by the insubstatial feel of the thing, and the general blandness of the overal design--someone really needs to tell the Emperor that he's not wearnig a stitch!
Sorry...didn't mean to rant, really just wanted to say thanks for helping me make my decision. I'm going to get the the technically and aesthetically superior Marinemaster and save thousands to boot!
--cheers

I had no idea my humble thread on the SCWF would be included as a reference in your excellent article and review. A nice surprise.
I don't take any credit for it however, all the credit goes to the wonderful member of the SCWF.

Nope, balance wheel - provides torque for drive train. Winding rotor stores energy in the mainspring, but the force from that is defined and moderated by palette/balance/wheel train.

I'm not clear on the 'size of th balance wheel was increased' , maybe it meant to say the winding rotor?
