More home triviality
Yep, we finally gave up and posted the waterbed on Craigslist. New one is an Ikea base and natural latex mattress. The combo seems to work pretty well, though we need a mattress pad as the moisture barrier makes for heat buildup. Sleeps pretty well, minimal wasted space, the drawers are a win, overall I like it.
Damn but mattresses are pricy, though. I like the place we got ours, but the sticker shock was quite something.

We also gave in and got a new one this year – we went for the “sleep number” bed which is now set with one side on medium and the other on super-soft. Nice to customize. After about a week we decided it was money well spent.
Here’s the rub – The problem when you get used to a REALLY good matress that’s customized to exactly how firm you want it? You never want to travel and take your chances at a hotel….
