San Diego commuting is hell

In the mornin’:

and in the evenin’:

Scales are in minutes, for the routes we most often take. This is computed by this Calit2 website, which is the single most useful thing I’ve seen to date. Quite cool, even has traffic cameras.
Email alerts, etc, etc. I’m just amazed that its not a spin-off corporation yet given its utility.

Damn, that is impressive, they must have an incredible amount of bandwidth and server resources. We had looked into email or sms traffic alerts at WSDOT (www.wsdot.wa.gov) and figured by the time any decent sized system was finished sending the alerts the problem would have been taken care of long ago. Suppose I should call them up and see how they are doing this.
I do notice that the cameras are coming from the cali dot so that is not adding to their bandwidth needs.
Not too impressed that the traffic cameras only work in IE, I suppose there is plugin I could get for firefox but why taint such a fine product.
